Vernon Township Dial-A-Ride
This program is one of the best kept secrets in living in Buffalo Grove. The Vernon Township in conjunction with Pace Bus supports a dial-a-ride paratransit bus service. "Unlike fixed-route service, ... paratransit vehicles make only pre-arranged trips for riders who are eligible." The Vernon Township service is open to the general public, besides serving senior citizens and people with disabilities.

It is no secret to thousands of Buffalo Grove commuters who take the Metra North Shore to downtown Chicago every work day. (The service is closed on the weekend, but please check the Metra schedule.) Do you know that the Buffalo Grove train station is named after Sidney H. Mathias, a former Buffalo Grove village president?

The City of Chicago closes its popular free trolleys in 2009. Currently the only free trolley is the Navy Pier Trolley which runs only during the summer time with a limited route. On the other hand, there is a very convenient hop on hop off trolley to visit many Chicago landmarks, but you have to pay.
